A report from the University of Waterloo shows that the effects of flooding go deeper than your pocket. It states,

“When we spoke to people, they all systematically documented, one after the other, that this is the worst experience of their lives, they never want to go through something like this.”

Whether a first-time homeowner, or someone who’s been living in their space for years, there are many steps to ensure that flooding doesn’t happen.

“Make sure that your eavestroughs are functioning properly. As part of that, go for a walk around the home when it’s raining so that you can see where your water is flowing.”

It’s crucial to ensure that your sump pumps are serviced and working, to avoid any pooling in case you do spring a leak!
