An outside membrane for basement waterproofing is a protective barrier installed on the exterior of a foundation wall, below ground, to prevent water from entering the basement. This membrane system acts as a shield against water and moisture, keeping the basement dry and preventing issues like mold growth and structural damage.
An Outside membrane may be installed for multiple reasons.
There is a crack in the foundation that is not easily accessible from the interior of the home.
Your foundation is not suitable for an injection repair.
Less intrusion into the homeowners living space
A cinder block foundation
The need for a new weeping tile

Our office staff will ensure that all the required locates are ordered and that a safe worksite is maintained. Our technicians will dig the foundation area to access the work area. They will clean the foundation with our professional tools. The Crack Specialists uses a double membrane system to ensure that your home remains dry for many years. The first layer of protection is a liquid barrier that is applied to the foundation with rollers. There are 2 coats of Mel Rol LM applied. Then they roll out the Platon membrane and apply it overtop of the Mel Rol. All edges are sealed to ensure there is no water penetration.
The technicians will backfill the area using native soil. They compact the area to avoid voids in the excavated space. They rake the soil and regrade the work area.
It is the homeowner’s responsibility to plant seed or plants that may have been removed from the area to perform the repair.
An outside repair can add value to your home as well as providing a safe and dry area.
Settling may occur over time. There will be an additional charge for soil top ups.
Don’t wait for water to reach your basement walls. Our team will assess your foundation and recommend the right outside membrane solution to keep your home dry and protected.
